About Our Leading Lady

Lady Akira Vessells

Akira Vessells is the Leading Lady of the Hope House Church of Baltimore, MD. She has served faithfully providing love and loyal support to her husband in ministry.

A 25-year-old native of Baltimore, MD, Akira Vessells, born Akira Brown, is the oldest of three siblings. Educated in the Baltimore City Public School System, Akira graduated and pursued her education at Stratford University in Culinary Arts. She is currently working toward her degree in Baking & Pastry Arts. In January of 2016, Akira had a bake sale that has flourished into what we now call Kira’s Treats, a home-based bakery, where Akira supplies custom cakes, cupcakes, and dipped treats to friends, family, and others. She also works as a lead First Grade Teacher through a non-profit organization.

Although her parents were active in her life Akira spent most of her childhood with her paternal grandmother, Carolyn Jones, who introduced her to Christ, taught her to pray, and ensured she was in church every Sunday. Akira dedicated her life to Christ, at an early age, at New Covenant Tabernacle under Pastors Thomas and Rosalind Schwind. She was active in multiple ministries including the Youth Dance Ministry where she says she began to develop her own relationship with God. During this time Akira was still in High School, where she met her husband, Allen Vessells. At the time Pastor Allen was serving as the Youth Pastor at Purpose Driven Ministries under his spiritual parents Bishop Perry Brown Sr and Pastor Sabrina Brown. In 2012 Pastor Allen invited the dance ministry at New Covenant Tabernacle to minister at a youth event. In 2014, at the age of 18, the Lord led Akira to Purpose Driven Ministries. During her time there she diligently helped Pastor Allen with whatever he needed to be done. Looking back, Akira believes even then the Lord was preparing her to be a Wife to Pastor Allen.

In 2016 she was united in Holy Matrimony with Allen Vessells. Shortly after their marriage, the Lord led the two to Life Impact Church (Bishop Donnie Neal and Pastor LaToya Neal) where Pastor Allen served as Executive Pastor and Akira served as Ministry Leader. In 2019 after hearing the voice of the Lord, much praying, fasting, and spiritual guidance from their covering Apostle L Denise Vance, Pastor Allen headed the voice of the Lord and began The Hope House Church. Lady Akira says “It is an absolute honor and pleasure to serve alongside my husband in ministry! There is no greater pleasure than fulfilling the will of the Father with your spouse!”. Akira says her favorite part of the ministry is counseling and praying for other young engaged and married couples who desire to serve the Lord!

Akira considers 1 Peter 5:7 "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." to be her "life verse". She says "That verse has brought me out of so many hardships. Knowing that whatever I'm dealing with, whatever is weighing on me that I have a God, a Father, that cares so much for me that he will not only bear it for me, but he'll make it all right! God is so amazing, and I want other people my age and even older to know and experience him for themselves!"
